| Our friend Charlie passed away suddenly on July 17, 2002. Charlie and Anne and their kids were truly family at the Dowling home in Silver Springs. There friendship and compassion for Mom and Dad was inspirational and their humor and adventurous ways brought much joy to all of us. Charlie's leadership in matters Irish especially resonated with our parents and led to many happily shared Hibernian hours. Charlie's modesty hid from us the now-revealed fact that he was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean war. As with the grateful nation he served, Charlie is a hero to us as well. |
